Sandimen

Sandimen Township〔(臺灣地區鄉鎮市區級以上行政區域名稱中英對照表 ) Glossary of Names for Administrative Divisions. Accessed at (Taiwan Geographic Names Information System website ) . Ministry of the Interior. 16 June 2011. Retrieved 1 April 2015.〕 ( []; Pha̍k-fa-sṳ: ''Sâm-thi-mùn-hiông'') is a rural township in Pingtung County, Taiwan.
==Names==
Ethnic Chinese settlers rendered the original Paiwan name as ''(unicode:Soaⁿ-ti-mn̂g)'' (, lit. "wild-boar bristle") or ''(unicode:Soaⁿ-tē-mn̂g)'' (). Under Japanese rule the name was Santimon ((日本語:山地門) or (日本語:サンティモン) in katakana; pronounced ''(unicode:Soaⁿ-tē-mn̂g)'' in Taiwanese). Following Taiwan's handover to China in 1945, the area became Sandimeng Township ( ) but the name was changed again in 1947 to Sandi Township ( ) but the Taiwanese pronunciation of ''(unicode:Soaⁿ-tē-mn̂g)'' () continued to be commonly used.〔 p. 145. ISBN 9575963148〕 In August 1992, the township assumed its current name.
